Consul General Mete Zaimoğlu was born in Derinkuyu District of Nevşehir in 1972.

He graduated from Middle East Technical University, Faculty of Economic and Administrative Sciences, Department of International Relations in 1995 and obtained his M.A. in International Relations from Ankara University.

Consul General Zaimoğlu joined the Foreign Service in 1996.

He served in the Deputy Directorate General for Multilateral Economic Affairs, Deputy Directorate General for Bilateral Cultural Relations, Directorate of Personnel, Directorate of Human Resources and Deputy Directorate General for Consular Services. He assumed various positions at the Turkish Embassies in Dhaka, Singapore, Vienna and Bucharest and the Consulate General in Essen.

He was Consul General at the Turkish Consulate General in Jeddah between 2019 and 2023 during his last tenure abroad.

Since 15 September 2025, he has been serving as the Consul General of the Republic of Türkiye in Tabriz.

Consul General Zaimoğlu is married with two sons.

He speaks fluent English.
